Burrator parish is said to be one of the largest in the country, at 59.45 square kilometres, but also one of the most sparsely populated. It was formed from the older parishes of Meavy, Sheepstor and Walkhampton. Burrator Reservoir, opened in 1891, is the main water supply for Plymouth. The Reservoir was formed by flooding the Meavy valley at the end of the 19th century, and is surrounded by granite tors, moorland and woodland.

These pictures were all taken at the 70th annversary celebrations at Harrowbeer airfield on 13th August.
£1.00 from each sale will be donated to the 'Help for Heroes' charity.

Totnes is a market town at the head of the estuary of the River Dart in Devon, England within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Totnes has a long recorded history, dating back to AD 907 when its first castle was built. It was already an important market town by the 12th century. Indications of its former wealth and importance are given by the number of merchants' houses built in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Today, the town, is a thriving centre for music, art, theatre and is known as a place where one can live a bohemian lifestyle.

I have a fascination with trees. I look for striking shapes and backgrounds and particularly like winter views, which allow their structure to be revealed. Some draw me back, hence several shots of the same 'blasted oak', which incidentally may be found at Saltram, just on the outskirts of Plymouth.
|
These shots were taken on a sunny May Wednesday when I had 7 hours to kill whilst my wife was in a meeting. I met my son who is at Bristol Uni' for lunch who proceeded to take me on a route-march across the city to see the sights!

These shots were taken on a trip to Tavistock via Cadover Bridge, Lee Moor and then across country to Princetown and Ashburton.
|
These shots are of Charlestown, home of the shipwreck centre and the small harbour that is home to several tall-ships. On the day that I was there, they were all out at sea!
Update: went back 28/01/12, three ships in!
